Water Baptism
A Public Declaration of Faith
Water baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes leaving your old life behind and stepping into the new life God has for you. Going under the water represents being buried with Christ, and rising up symbolizes being raised to new life with Him.
Following Jesus’ Example
Jesus was baptized, and He calls us to follow His example (Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:19). Baptism itself doesn’t save us (Ephesians 2:8-9), but it is an important step of obedience that publicly shows we’ve chosen to follow Him.
When we are baptized, we identify with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4). It’s a powerful outward sign of the inward change that has taken place in our hearts (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). Baptism is one of those steps of obedience that expresses our love and commitment to Him.
When Can I Be Baptized?
At Life Church, Pastor Jason is available to baptize you at any time—whether during a service or in a more private setting. Whenever you’re ready, we’re here to walk with you.
What About Children?
We encourage younger children to participate in our Dedication Sundays—a meaningful time for parents and the church to commit to raising children in faith. We believe baptism is a personal choice, best made by someone who is mature enough to understand and decide for themselves.
